SPRING STRIPED BASS ESSENTIALS

From Raritan Bay to our backyard in Cape Cod.  These are proven spring striped bass staples.  Day or night, up on the flats or along channel ledges....When days grow longer, and water temps inch closer to the magical 55 degree mark.   You can have confidence that if you have these in your bag, your covered.  Twitch baits from Yo-Zuri and Tsunami have changed the cold water game.  They cast a mile, are easy to count down to an appropriate depth, and are excellent when up shallow on the flats.  All that is required is a slow steady retrieve.  If you'e a fan of the high end custom gliders, you'll love the Tsunami Twitch bait, as it has a built in wide gliding action on a steady retreive.  You can't beat the  Yo-Zuri Hydro Long Cast minnows, and Daiwa Salt Pro (SP) minnows when fish are keyed in a slender profile.  They work wonders up on the flats, with the Yo-Zuri swimming slightly shallower, than the Floating SP minnow, and the sinking SP minnow is a great choice fishing deeper along channel ledges.

If you're suffering from paralysis from analysis when it comes to color selection.....A great starting point which will cover you in most situations is BONE, and a color with some flash.

When fish are hanging deeper during the cold water months, get low and slow with a soft plastic paddle or eel tail and swing hard any time you feel the slightest perceivable bump....because it could be a GIANT!
